Who We Are

2M was born on 26th November 2012 and brings together the combined expertise of two like-minded and industry experienced professionals, Jon Francis & Geoff Maunsell. Prior to then both Jon & Geoff had been running their own individual practices for over 10 years each.

The simple premise behind 2M was simple: to create a brand-new entity to help clients in the areas of Personal Risk Protection, Investments, Superannuation and Retirement Planning! Since those early days 2M has grown and we are now able to assist and service our clients across a broad spectrum for financial areas, including Residential & Commercial Mortgages as well as Vehicle & Equipment Finance.

  • Jon Francis


    Superannuation and Retirement Specialist

    Jon is a Director of 2M Financial Group and started his career in the Financial Services Industry in December 1997 as a Financial Planner. In early 2000, Jon decided to go it alone and set up his own Financial Planning Practice in Sydney.

    In 2012 Jon partnered with Geoff Maunsell and established 2M Financial Group, the business covers most facets of the Financial Planning spectrum. We offer unique Investment, Superannuation, Retirement Planning, and Insurance advice. 2M is based on the premise of providing personalised care, appropriate advice and a high level of individual service.

    Jon has a Batchelor of Arts Degree in Business Management from the University of Portsmouth in England. He has also completed his Diploma in Financial Planning.

  • Geoff Maunsell

    Geoff is a Director of 2M Financial group. Geoff has been in the Life Insurance industry since 1989. Geoff started his career in Reinsurance and then into Retail Insurance. Geoff has unique experience across the Australian Life Insurance industry, through Life Underwriting, Claims Management and Marketing.

    In 1998, Geoff started his own Insurance and Superannuation advice business, this provided Geoff with the opportunity to provide quality advice across all sections in the community. Many of Geoff’s clients from 1998 continue to be clients today.

    In 2012 Geoff partnered with Jon and established 2M Financial Group, the business covers most parts of the Financial Planning spectrum. We offer unique Retirement Planning, Superannuation, Investment, and Insurance advice. Our business is based on care and individual service.

    Geoff is highly educated across Financial Planning Industry having gained the Advanced Diploma of Financial Planning, and the Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning.

    As the Practice Manager for 2M, Geoff is an invaluable and integral team member and is also a Director of 2M Financial Group Pty Ltd.

  • Colin McGowan


    Mortgage and Finance Specialist

    Colin has over 25 years’ experience in the banking and Finance Industry including time as a Senior Corporate Manager with a major bank.
    Colin is an expert in mortgage finance, commercial and business finance as well as leasing and equipment finance.
    Accredited with a large range of banks and lenders, Colin can be trusted to focus on what is important to you so as to ensure that you achieve the best and most appropriate finance solution.

Our journey with Jon,
We met Jon through our accountant Rod back in about 2005. We needed financial advice - particularly regarding superannuation - following Grant's resignation from his very long-term employer, and taking on more of a consultant role with an English Company.
We have always found Jon very easy to talk with, with a clear view ahead of how to achieve our goals. At the beginning, it was securing our joint funds in super for the best outcome for our immediate future (maybe ten more years of employment) and then retirement, which was to involve plenty of overseas adventures.
Jon established that, despite the obvious risky action of Grant's resigning from long term employment, we were both more medium risk takers, and advised us accordingly regarding our investments.
We have always been comfortable with his advice, through the rougher times of financial crises and more frequently during steadier periods of growth. In fact, "steady as you go" has been his mantra and it has paid off. We have had six great years of adventure overseas thus far during retirement , including four separate times living in foreign parts for six months or longer, and have recently bought ourselves a house in Berry as home and our base from which to travel until such time as that loses its appeal!
We are fortunate in that Berry is very close to one set of grandchildren, and also has a wonderfully friendly and welcoming social set up.
We have sons who reside in Sydney so we frequently migrate north - preferably by train - to see them. Then there is another grandson in England, (along with immediate family and good friends) so we are never short of an excuse to travel over there.
And we have Jon who actively encourages us to keep on taking advantage of our decent health and comfortably secure super and plan the next trip !
We can highly recommend Jon and his colleagues for their sensible, sound financial advice, friendly approach and can-do attitude.
